KENYA - Mara Safari - There are still a few places left on Offbeat Safaris' August Mara ride. Vast plains home to huge numbers of game, hot showers, cold drinks, candle lit dinners and secluded, beautifully situated mobile camps.

SPAIN – Sierra Nevada – There aren't many places you can ride in southern Europe in mid summer but the Sierra Nevada's mountain air feels fresh even in August. Climb ancient Moorish paths to Trevelez, Spain's highest village, on a beautifully schooled and energetic Andalucian horse and spend balmy evenings relaxing over dinner on the terrace of a comfortable village hotel.

SOUTH AFRICA – Ant's Nest - African Spring Special – Every creature comfort from massage to baby sitting to make this a perfect choice for those who like the finer things in life. TANZANIA – Kilimanjaro Ride – Traditional camping under vast African skies and the gaze of Mt Kilimanjaro. Apparently limitless savannah and keen, bush-wise horses. Remote wilderness populated only by the local Masai, and game as it wanders, oblivious to park boundaries, between the Amboseli National Park and the legendary Serengeti.

ECUADOR – Hacienda Ride – A ride in two distinct areas of the Andean highlands. Tread ancient Inca highways and Spanish colonial routes, staying at haciendas which have hosted the likes of Simon Bolivar, South American liberator, and scientist von Humboldt (who has an ocean current, a penguin, a skunk and a lunar sea named in his honour!)

JORDAN – and Wadi Rum - the Red Rose City as seen by Indiana Jones, and the desert as seen by Lawrence of Arabia. Both far more spectacular in reality than on the big screen. Cross dramatic desert landscape on keen Arab horses, pass rock carvings thousands of years old, eat round the fire in a camp fittingly uncluttered by western frills. ARGENTINA – with Jakob von Plessen - A 10 night expedition on Criollo horses bred for their temperament, vim and vigour. Those who know him from Kenyan riding safaris know Jakob is a guide fired with energy, knowledge and enthusiasm, and on this ride he is on home ground.
